Facts about the Maricopa County Audit

  1. The Arizona State Senate ordered the audit. The US Constitution gives state legislatures plenary power over the elections in their state.
  2. The results of the presidential election will not be overturned even if the audit shows that Donald Trump actually won in Arizona. The only possible remedy would be impeachment and conviction by the US Congress.
  3. There was no prior recount of the ballots.  There were some various recanvass but not a ballot count and examination.
  4. The Arizona Secretary of State is allowed to be an observer at the audit. To date she chose not to.
  5. The Maricopa County Board of Elections refused to comply with the State Senate request to turnover ballots. The Senate was forced to subpeona the ballots and voting machines.
  6. In the 2020 election in Maricopa County, there were 2,089,563 votes, or 80.5% of registered voters. In 2016 the numbers were 1,608,875 and 74.43% respectively.
  7. The Audit is not currently canvassing door to door. The Arizona senate put that activity on hold but reserves the right to do so in the future.
  8. The audit is being conducted by Cyber Ninjas
  9. The head of Cyber Ninja’s Doug Logan, retweeted a tweet “you may discover Trump got 200k more votes than previously reported”. Some site this as disqualifying bias, however Logan is not a direct participant in the actual audit.
